Yes, I made up a word, REJUVACATION. For me, this word birthed in my life out of utter necessity. There will be several posts to cover all elements of its definition but for now, let’s start with the basics.
Rejuvacation (noun)
ree-juh-vey-kay-shun: A solo vacation intended to rejuvenate the soul.
Rejuvenate + Vacation = Rejuvacation.
A Rejuvacation is intentional time away for self-focus, reflection, and rejuvenation. It is a time for the craziness of our busy lives to come to a screeching halt, allowing for precious moments to regroup and catch one’s breath. A Rejuvacation is the ultimate form of self-care, as the time spent on a Rejuvacation is subject to the whims, inclinations, and desires of the person indulging in that time away.
A Rejuvacation can take many forms, but I submit that it should be a minimum of one overnight stay, or a full 24 hours (preferably much longer). It is a time during which your normal duties, responsibilities, and commitments are put on hold or delegated elsewhere. The idea is to seclude oneself for self-reflection and focus on inner desires often forgotten or deprioritized. A proper Rejuvacation requires planning – but the energy put into the planning is well-worth the effort.
